Ryan “R.L.” Nave is editor-in-chief at Mississippi Today, where he previously held positions as news editor and staff reporter. Before helping launch the nonprofit newsroom in 2016, he worked at the Jackson (Miss.) Free Press as an editor and Illinois Times as a reporter. He has been a Ted Scripps Environmental Journalism fellow at the University of Colorado-Boulder and an Academy for Alternative Journalism fellow at Northwestern. A native of St. Louis, Mo., he studied political science at University of Missouri.
Nave was part of the panel “Saving local news in the U.S.: Can we have sustainable online journalism in local markets?” at ISOJ 2019.
