Prior to founding Status, Oliver was CNN’s senior media reporter. At CNN, he authored the acclaimed “Reliable Sources” newsletter and reported for CNN across both television and digital platforms.

A first-generation Persian-American, Oliver was born in Washington State. He graduated with a degree in political science from the University of California, Merced. Oliver currently resides in New York City.
