Jonathan Greenberger

Jonathan Greenberger is Global Editor-in-Chief of POLITICO, where he oversees all aspects of the organization’s global newsroom – with 550 politics and policy journalists deployed across seven countries and three continents – and leads its editorial strategy across platforms.

Before becoming Global Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan served as Executive Vice President, where he helped accelerate the company’s transformation into a multimedia, global news organization, driving innovation at the intersection of journalism, technology and audience engagement. In that role, he expanded POLITICO’s presence across video, audio and digital platforms and strengthened its position as a leading global source of political and policy news.

Prior to joining POLITICO, Jonathan spent nearly a decade as ABC News’ Washington Bureau Chief, overseeing the network’s coverage of Washington during the final years of the Obama administration and throughout the first Trump administration and the Biden administration. He led ABC’s coverage across broadcast and digital of the historic 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, two presidential impeachments, and the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and its aftermath.

Jonathan was also Executive Producer of ABC News’ Sunday public affairs program, This Week, for six years, where he set the editorial agenda and vision for one of the nation’s leading political affairs broadcasts.

Jonathan began his career with ABC News in its Washington Bureau as an intern in its political unit, later becoming a producer, a role he held for several years before leaving to pursue his law degree. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Jonathan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis and a JD from Stanford Law School.
