Karin Assmann has covered the U.S. for the German news magazine Spiegel TV for most of her career. She has also worked as a freelancer for newspaper, radio and television outlets and has written and produced content for Der Spiegel and Spiegel Online. As a PhD student at the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism she has been working on newsroom practices surrounding audience engagement.  Karin is originally from Germany and continues to work for Spiegel TV out of Washington, producing and reporting short form documentaries and magazine stories.
