Dahlia Bazzaz is a reporter on the award-winning Education Lab team at The Seattle Times, where she covers schools in the Seattle area. She was among the first journalists in the United States to report on the impact of COVID-19 on children and education. Her work is primarily focused on systemic racism in public schools. Using the solutions journalism approach, she has highlighted ways to make the teacher workforce more racially representative of its students, leading to policy change at a state level. Before becoming a reporter, she was an engagement editor for the Education Lab, where she facilitated conversations about public education policy solutions online and in-person.
