Luisa Ortiz Pérez PhD., is a mental health advocate, gender-equality champion, civic media expert, social design thinker and a non violence expert. As the executive director and co-founder of Vita-Activa.org, Lu leads a helpline to assist women and LGBTIQ+ journalists, activists and freedom of expression defenders facing online violence, gender based harassment, stress, trauma and burnout. She worked for NPR, WNYC, BBC, Yahoo! Hispanic Americas and Televisa Interactive Media; and participated in the co-production, design and management of inclusive and disruptive MOOCs, courses, workshops, campaigns and media products at a global level for the past 20 years. lu@vita-activa.org | @LuOrtiz

She has taught and trained journalists, activists, organizers and change makers in social innovation and digital technologies on how to use them safely around the globe since 2003. She holds a PhD in Ideology and Discourse Analysis from the University of Essex.
