Marcus Funk
Dr. Marcus Funk is an associate professor of mass communication at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He studies podcasting, digital media assemblage and conservative media. His scholarship has been published in top journals, including Mass Communication & Society and Journalism Studies. He teaches an introductory core class on media literacy and fact checking as well as courses on podcasting, copy editing and digital audio production. He covered the Texas Lege for The Dallas Morning News and Community Impact Newspaper and has years of experience reporting and editing several Texas community newspapers. He is a proud Longhorn and a devoted fan of horror movies and Tex-Mex.

Dr. Marcus Funk is a published journalism scholar, reporter, editor and news junkie. His research focuses on podcasting, far right media and emerging and traditional community journalism. He worked as an editor, reporter and Legislature correspondent for a variety of large and small Texas newsrooms before earning his Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. He has a fondness for true crime podcasts, horror movies and 1990s Star Trek.
