Christina Anagnostopoulos is a senior producer at Reuters News Agency working on the new fact-checking initiative to identify misinformation in partnership with Facebook. She leads a team of producers in Washington D.C. and Mexico City as part of Facebook’s Third-Party Fact-Checking Program. The fact-checking unit at Reuters will work to identify misinformation focusing on the 2020 U.S. election and beyond. Christina brings a passion for U.S. politics, four languages and three years working on verification of user generated content (UGC) at Reuters news agency to this new project. From natural disasters to political violence, the videos rigorously verified and cleared by the UGC desk are a testament to upholding Reuters’ editorial values in the ever-changing digital world, where videos are shared online faster than ever. Christina was born in Greece, grew up in Italy and studied in the UK. Living in Mexico for three years has exposed her to the misinformation trends in Latin America.
