Coleen O’Lear is head of curation and platforms at The Washington Post, where she’s worked in various roles since 2011. In her current position, she oversees more than 100 journalists responsible for optimizing and distributing the Post’s journalism across platforms, including social media, homepage and app, SEO, news partnerships and more. She has partnered with engineering, product, design, analytics, marketing and advertising to develop products such as “The 7” briefings and By The Way, as well as managed The Post’s Snapchat and Apple News channels. She was a founding member of the team that built the Post’s first nationally focused app in 2014. She previously worked at the Island Packet in South Carolina as assistant copy desk chief, as well as at the Times-Picayune as part of a pioneering digital team for NOLA.com. She teaches about the business of media innovation at Northwestern University’s Medill School.
