Romina Mella is a founding member and managing editor at IDL-Reporteros, an independent investigative media outlet based in Lima, Peru. Romina specializes in covering political and corporate corruption, justice, organized crime and drug trafficking. Romina’s work has been recognized with important awards, including the Global Shining Light Award, granted by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), for the “Car Wash” (Lava Jato) and “White Collars” (Lava Juez) cases, in 2019.
She is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). In 2017, she was a fellow of the Entrepreneurial Journalism Program at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Mella is also co-founder of The Reading Show, a multimedia project that explores new narratives for expanding the audience for fiction and non-fiction stories.
