Carlos Eduardo Espina

Carlos Eduardo Espina is a nonprofit director, activist, and aspiring lawyer who works to uplift the immigrant community through social media content, community organizing, and charitable causes. Carlos was born in Montevideo, Uruguay to a Uruguayan father and a Mexican mother, but immigrated to Texas when he was five years old. Since he was a teenager, Carlos has been involved in community work. In 2017 Carlos founded his first nonprofit, Football for the Future. Through this organization, Carlos and his team provide free soccer and educational camps for hundreds of low-income kids in central Texas. In 2019 Carlos founded his second nonprofit, the Detained Refugee Solidarity Fund. This nonprofit exists to morally and economically support migrants and refugees detained in ICE detention centers throughout the United States. Carlos graduated from Vassar College in 2020 with a degree in Political Science and is currently a Law student at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Carlos is fighting for a better future where true equality and freedom exist and where all marginalized people have the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential, free from state and societal oppression.
