Elizabeth Kennedy is the White House editor at The New York Times, guiding coverage of President Trump and his attempts to remake the U.S. government and America’s place in the world.
Elizabeth joined the Times in 2021 and led coverage of the Biden administration. Before that, she was a longtime editor and correspondent for The Associated Press in Washington, Bangkok, New Delhi, Beirut and Nairobi.
In Bangkok, she was responsible for 13 countries in Southeast Asia and the coverage of the Islamic State in the Philippines. In New Delhi, she led coverage of the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India’s rightward turn to Hindu nationalism. In Beirut, she guided A.P.’s coverage of the Syrian civil war and also did several tours through Iraq and Afghanistan. In Nairobi, she directed coverage of 14 countries in East Africa, including the war in Somalia.
