Gülsin Harman

Gülsin HarmanGülsin Harman is an Istanbul-based journalist who frequently contributes to the New York Times and the BBC Monitoring. She has worked in cross-functional teams for enterprise stories, research projects and building news products for international media and journalism organizations. Ms. Harman, having authored a report on the sustainability, innovation and impact of digital independent media in Turkey for Project Oasis in 2022, also acts as an editorial strategy consultant for alternative news outlets in the country.

After the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University in 2020, she won a grant from the European Journalism Center to launch a newsletter to be selected later to join the Product Immersion Program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Her team developed a product prototype in the ICFJ’s News Innovation Lab to foster engagement and trust in journalism. Previously, she investigated digital harassment of Turkish journalists for the International Press Institute and worked as a foreign news editor in leading national newspapers.
