Juliana Castro VarónJuliana Castro Varón is the senior design editor of A.I. Initiatives at The New York Times, a team using machine learning to uncover data patterns and make journalism more accessible. Before joining the Times, Juliana was a fellow at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard, where she studied the history of image manipulation, from 19th century darkroom ghosts to artificial intelligence. Juliana’s the founder of Cita Press, a publisher of open access books funded by the Mellon Foundation. She also draws, and her cartoons have appeared in the New Yorker.
