Zach SewardZach Seward is the editorial director of A.I. initiatives at The New York Times, where he leads a newsroom team focused on applications of machine learning for journalism. He joined The Times in 2024 after nearly a dozen years at Quartz, the global business news startup he co-founded and led in various capacities, including as editor in chief, chief product officer, and CEO. Prior to that, he was a reporter and editor at The Wall Street Journal, and covered the news industry as a founding editor of Harvard’s Nieman Journalism Lab.
