The 25th International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ) is happening April 12-13, online and in person at the University of Texas at Austin. Whether you participate virtually or in Austin, your ticket grants you access to cutting-edge keynotes and panels with leaders in the media industry, breakfast- and lunchtime workshops and sessions, and the chance to network with journalists from around the globe.

Here is all you need to know about what is included with your ticket to ISOJ:

In Person

With your in-person registration fee, you’ll get:

  • Complete access to panels and keynote sessions: Attend discussions led by more than 70 speakers from renowned media outlets like The New York Times, BBC, The Washington Post, CNN, Associated Press, Teen Vogue, MLK50 and many more! All keynote sessions and panels feature simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.
  • Workshops: Once you have your in-person ticket, you can register to participate in exclusive workshops on Friday and Saturday covering topics like strategies for local news revenue optimization, optimizing your YouTube elections coverage, new Google tools for reporting and fact-checking and more! Participants also can register to attend a breakfast session where they can learn about the latest journalism research. Note that these workshops and sessions are in English only and require registration. Seats are limited!
  • Documentary screening and Q&A Session: Kickstart your ISOJ experience by registering for a pre-conference event on Thursday, April 11, featuring the screening of the documentary “Breaking the News,” followed by a Q&A session with Emily Ramshaw, co-founder, and CEO of The 19th*.
  • In-person networking opportunities: Connect with media executives, journalists and scholars from around the world during designated coffee and conversation breaks. You can also visit tables set up by our sponsors for casual “meet-ups.”
  • Moody Party welcome reception: On Friday evening, enjoy light snacks, an open bar and a special surprise as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. This welcome reception offers a relaxed environment to get to know other ISOJers.
  • Access to new ISOJ Slack workspace: The Slack workspace adds a dynamic layer to the event, ensuring that in-person and virtual participants can connect and receive up-to-date information about what’s happening at ISOJ. Serving as a hub for the conference, Slack channels will keep the conversation going beyond panel discussions.
  • Session Recordings: Attendees receive links to recordings of each session directly in their inbox a few hours after they end, offering a chance to revisit valuable insights or catch up on missed content.
  • Meals, snacks, coffee and breakfast tacos: Your ticket includes two lunches, two breakfasts and snacks during breaks. And of course, breakfast on Friday will include everyone’s favorite Austin staple, breakfast tacos.
  • Access to post-ISOJ conference: Extend your ISOJ experience by attending the 17th Ibero-American Colloquium on Digital Journalism on Sunday, April 14, to get a more comprehensive understanding of the media landscape in Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Note that the event is in Spanish, without interpretation.

ISOJ Virtual Experience

With your ISOJ Virtual Experience registration fee, you’ll get:

  • Complete access to panels and keynote sessions: Attend discussions through Zoom, led by more than 70 speakers from renowned media outlets like The New York Times, BBC, The Washington Post, CNN, Associated Press, Teen Vogue, MLK50 and many more! All panels feature simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.
  • Workshop access: Once you have your ISOJ Virtual Experience ticket, you can participate in exclusive workshops via Zoom on Friday and Saturday. They’ll cover topics like strategies for local news revenue optimization, optimizing your YouTube elections coverage, new Google tools for reporting and fact-checking and more! Participants also can stream the Saturday morning research session where they can learn about the latest journalism research. Note that these workshops and sessions are in English only.
  • Full access to new ISOJ Slack workspace: With the new ISOJ Slack workspace, you can immerse yourself in everything that’s happening at ISOJ. The ISOJ 25th Anniversary Virtual Experience introduces a variety of dedicated channels within the Slack workspace, each aimed at different aspects of the conference. Channels include Pre-ISOJ What’s Coming!, ISOJ Lounge, Happening Now, Q&A, Job Board, General Announcements, ISOJ en Español, Fun and Games, ISOJ Guest Book and Support. You’ll also be able to “huddle” with fellow participants!
  • Session Recordings: Participants receive links to recordings of each session a few hours after they conclude, offering a chance to revisit valuable insights or catch up on missed content. This will also be handy for virtual attendees from different time zones who could not attend live sessions but will be able to access them on the same day and keep the link for future consultations.
  • Meet-and-greet Sessions with Panelists: Want a chance to talk with a speaker on a particular topic? This is your chance to do it! During breaks, participate in our intimate meet-and-greet sessions. Hop on a Zoom call with other Virtual Experience participants and chat with the ISOJ speakers. These interactions provide a unique opportunity for participants to engage with industry experts. Note that sessions in English won’t have interpretation to Spanish, and some sessions will be conducted only in Spanish.
  • ISOJ Backstage Pass: During setup, breakfast, coffee breaks and the Moody Party, the ISOJ Backstage Pass offers a chance for virtual participants to roam around the AT&T Conference Center and witness things even the in-person participants won’t! Led by our Backstage Pass host and live-streamed to Zoom and Instagram, the ISOJ Backstage Pass will capture behind-the-scenes live moments, facilitate virtual participants to ask questions and connect with in-person participants in real-time and create other exclusive content to the ISOJ Virtual Experience.
