Univision Noticias to offer simultaneous interpretation to Spanish for all ISOJ 2021 sessions

The 22nd International Symposium of Online Journalism (ISOJ) will offer simultaneous interpretation from English to Spanish for all panels, keynote sessions, and workshops following an eight-year tradition thanks to Univision Noticias — the news division of the leading Spanish-language media company in the U.S.

For the second time, ISOJ will be held completely virtually from April 26-30, 2021. Registration for ISOJ Online 2021 is now available for free at https://isoj2021.splashthat.com/w.

The ISOJ tradition of simultaneous interpretation started with the 12th ISOJ, in 2013, thanks to Univision Noticias, which wanted the conference to be inclusive of Spanish-speaking journalists, editors, and industry experts from around the world.

“We are grateful to Univision Noticias for its continuous support, since 2013, which makes ISOJ accessible to Spanish-speaking audiences here in the United States and throughout the world, mainly in Latin America and Spain. In recent years, we have noticed an increase in the participation of journalists and scholars from the Spanish-speaking world,” said professor Rosental Alves, founder and director of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas and ISOJ’s organizer.

“We have been lucky all these years to count on the same competent team of interpreters, led by UT alumnus Steve Mines, who has also worked for other conferences and meetings organized by the Knight Center. Mines and his colleagues are familiar with journalism jargon and have done an outstanding interpretation job,” Alves said.
